Core Values

  • Privacy and Confidentiality - Personal privacy, privacy of space and personal affairs is a fundamental right of all our service users. Confidentiality is respected at all times. Staff are bound by a code of confidentiality which forms part of their terms and conditions of employment
  • Dignity - Preservation of self-respect and self-worth are especially important in all aspects of personal care. All staff undergo an intensive induction programme before they assist service users with personal care.
  • Independence - Our service users, irrespective of their physical or mental health needs, are actively encouraged to retain and develop their independence as much as possible. Though most of our service users may be heavily dependent on others for help, staff are acutely aware of the need to encourage a measure of independence. By this means, they provide opportunities for the maintenance of personal dignity. To ensure these measures are carried through a programme of care planning is implemented.
  • Choice - We offer service users as much choice as possible in all aspects of their lives. This may involve making informed choices about their future, and being involved, if they wish, in the assessment of their needs and the production and review of their personal 'Care & Support Plan'
  • Rights - All rights as adults in our society are upheld. We strive to protect service users from exploitation, discrimination and abuse.
  • Fulfilment - Service users receive skilled sensitive care, to help sustain and fulfil personal aspirations and abilities, and to enable them to achieve the highest possible quality of life.
  • Equality - Service users have the same access to facilities and services within the local community as any other citizen.

Philsophy of Care

The main concern of our service is our service user's quality of life and the creation of a relaxed, informal but professional environment which respects their independence, protects their status as adults and encourages their individuality.

The basic principles of our philosophy are as follows:

  • To provide service users with the highest standards of individualised care in a relaxed and informal environment.
  • To provide care in a way that promotes the dignity of the service users and recognises their need to express their own individuality.
  • To recognise service users right to privacy and freedom from intrusion, for themselves and for their belongings and affairs.
  • To respect service users' needs, desires, likes and dislikes and to empathise with their fears and joys. Each person has the right to exercise their own informed choice.
  • To offer service users and their relatives help, support and advice.
  • To provide a 'Care & Support Plan' which is agreed and understood by the service user and which is appropriate to their needs and wishes.
  • To provide training and education for all staff. We apply research-based professional practice to ensure that service users receive care that provides a quality of life that they find satisfactory.
